Ideas for the Sabbath

Things to say "yes" to on the Sabbath.
*joyful worship
*feasting, playing, taking delight in nature and in one other
*freedom that contributes to the freedom of others and to the well-being of the natural world
*something different from what you do regularly all other days

Things to say "no" to on the Sabbath.
*committee meetings - even for church
*the marketplace - try not to spend money on the Sabbath. Refuse to let the marketplace govern this day.
*mourning and sadness at least on this day
*rest from commerce
*rest from worry
*rest for creation
*rest from work

These ideas are from www.practicingourfaith.org

What ideas do you have for the Sabbath day?

Last Saturday Jonathon, myself, and Nathanael took a 2 mile walk, and took Nathanael to the park. It was a beauitful, clear, and breasy day.
We try to stay away from having to do things that we really do not want to. Like we were suppose to grocery shop that same day, and instead we enjoyed the day.

I like all the ideas posted Pastor Dan. I can't think of any more to add. My main thing will be to put the Lord first and foremost above everything and everyone else.

hmm...but i like creating things...you know like knitting and doing crafts or writing. it's so relaxing and i enjoy it so much. i think that maybe these things aren't part of the deal? i mean we should be doing things that we enjoy and that bring us closer to God...that's the whole point..so if these things keep doing that...then i think i'll keep them as part of my sabbath. :)

These are merely ideas to get you thinking. They are NOT intended as laws. Each of us must give some thought to what would work for us and maybe try different things to keep it fresh.

Remember that it is a gift for you from your Heavenly Father to enjoy, relax, rest, strengthen you relationship both with God and others.

So, Ester, knit to your hearts content.
